This qualification provides competencies to supervise selection, installation, commissioning maintenance and testing of explosion-protected equipment and systems for control and monitoring of plant and processes. The qualification provides competencies in working with explosion protections techniques with elections in how they apply to, gas and dust atmospheres. It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’ and competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain stand-alone renewable energy equipment and systems.
ELIGIBILITY FOR COURSE ENROLMENT:
- Candidates must hold a current ‘Unrestricted Electricians’ licence or qualified Electrical Engineers
- Electrical Engineers must provide proof of their qualifications.

- Hazardous areas classification
- Ex e, Ex n, Ex d, Ex i, Ex m, Ex q, Ex o, Ex tD, Ex p techniques and principles
- Barrier gland and compression cable gland
- How to select and install the cable gland (Practical)
- Specific installation requirements for different types of Ex techniques
- The common testing procedures in the hazardous areas
- Practical assessment – Installation and detailed inspection using on-site training bays
- Different types of cable glanding and learn how to select the right cable gland for different sizes and types of cable.
Theory and practical training.
The requirements for granting this qualification and the issue of certification will be met when competency is demonstrated and achieved for all core competency units listed below in combination with the course electives delivered in this training package.

Graduates who are successfully competent in both theoretical and practical training completing all units of competency listed above, will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA).
