SCOPE:
This qualification provides competencies to supervise selection, installation, commissioning maintenance and testing of explosion-protected equipment and systems for control and monitoring of plant and processes. The qualification provides competencies in working with explosion protections techniques with elections in how they apply to, gas and dust atmospheres. It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’ and competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain stand-alone renewable energy equipment and systems.

ELIGIBILITY FOR COURSE ENROLMENT:

  • Candidates must hold a current ‘Unrestricted Electricians’ licence or qualified Electrical Engineers
  • Electrical Engineers must provide proof of their qualifications.

You will undergo the training of latest AS/NZS 60079 with experienced trainers and conduct a site (location TBA) hazardous areas inspection at this 5 day course.

You will be exposed to the following explosive protection techniques and technology

  1. Hazardous areas classification
  2. Ex e, Ex n, Ex d, Ex i, Ex m, Ex q, Ex o, Ex tD, Ex p techniques and principles
  3. Barrier gland and compression cable gland
  4. How to select and install the cable gland (Practical)
  5. Specific installation requirements for different types of Ex techniques
  6. The common testing procedures in the hazardous areas
  7. Practical assessment – Installation and detailed inspection using on-site training bays
  8. Different types of cable glanding and learn how to select the right cable gland for different sizes and types of cable.

TRAINING METHODS:
Theory and practical training.

Statement of Attainment (SOA) – UEE42611 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas- Electrical

Graduates who are successfully competent in both theoretical and practical training completing all units of competency listed above, will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA).

A Statement of Attainment is issued when an individual has completed one or more accredited units. These competencies form part of UEE42611 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical
