Green – High Demand, Orange – Medium Demand, Red – Low Demand
Note: Please remember this demand table is just a guide to give you the most bang for your buck, whilst trying to get your foot in the door. If you had your heart set on a certain occupation and it displays a red demand, don’t let us put you off. Just be aware of it and know that you may have to work harder, longer or smarter to get your way in and possibly to have a fall back plan. As we said the demand tables are just a guide, meaning they are a generalisation and will vary from project to project, site to site, location to location etc.
Senior Driller Jobs
Senior Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate IV in Drilling. Senior Drillers move rigs onto drill sites, set up rigs for drilling, operate rigs and all secondary equipment to drill holes for mineral exploration and oil / gas exploration and production. Senior Drillers adhere to strict safety guidelines and document depths, core samples and well pressures.
Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate III in Drilling (Mining and Exploration). Drillers help to move Drill rigs onto the new Drill site, help set up the new site and operate drilling rig and all secondary equipment. connect air and water hoses and power cables to drilling and secondary equipment.
Drillers Offsider Jobs
Drillers Offsider jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate II in Drilling (Mining and Exploration). A Driller Offside helps to move, set-up and operate drilling rigs and secondary equipment to drill holes for mineral exploration and oil/gas exploration and production.
Relief Driller Jobs
Relief Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate III in Drilling (Mining and exploration). A Relief Driller bounces between Drilling Rigs when the normal driller is off site.
Grade Control Driller Jobs
Grade Control Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Cert III in Drilling (Mining and exploration). Grade Control Drilling is the last drilling before mining operations take place. Here the drill data needs to be fine-tuned, defining the grade/tonnage and boundaries of the mineral ore.
Blast Hole Driller Jobs
Blast Hole Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate III in Drilling (Blast Hole). Blast Hole Drillers drill into the earth’s surface to provide a blast hole into which explosives ‘shots’ can be loaded.
Shotfirer jobs generally require you to complete the Shotfirers Licence (BEUL & UHL). Depending on how many of the competencies completed depends on the restrictions worker have. Module 1 – Store, handle and transport explosives, Module 2 – Charging Shots, Module 3 – Firing of Shots and Module 4 – Blast planning and reporting.
MMU / MPU Operator Jobs
MMU / MPU Operator jobs generally require you to complete the HR Licence, Dangerous Goods Security Clearance and Dangerous Good Bulk Drivers Licence. MMU/MPU Operators move the explosive shots from the storage area to the blast site.
