Note: Please remember this demand table is just a guide to give you the most bang for your buck, whilst trying to get your foot in the door. If you had your heart set on a certain occupation and it displays a red demand, don’t let us put you off. Just be aware of it and know that you may have to work harder, longer or smarter to get your way in and possibly to have a fall back plan. As we said the demand tables are just a guide, meaning they are a generalisation and will vary from project to project, site to site, location to location etc.
Driller jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate IV in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore), Well Control Certificate. Drillers run the floor on the Drilling Rigs when rigging up, operations and rigging down. Drillers are in charge of the floor.
Drillers Assistant Jobs
Drillers Assistant jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate IV in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore), Well Control Certificate. Second in charge of the floor, performs maintenance, repairs and takes control of any positions if a worker must leave the floor.
Derrickmen jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate III in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore), Well Control Certificate. A Derrickmen helps the Driller with the centring and raising / lowering of all casing and drill pipe, has control of the mud module. A Derrickmen is third in charge of the floor.
Derrickmen’s Assistant / Floor hand / Pumpman Jobs
Derrickmen’s Assistant / Floor hand / Pumpman jobs generally require you to complete theCertificate III in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore). Assists with duties under instruction from Derrickmen, Driller Assistant or the Driller, also performs maintenance and cleaning of the rig and rig floor.
Roughneck jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate II in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore). A Roughneck provides fire watch, performs maintenance and cleaning of rig and rig floor, assists crane operator and assists under instruction from Driller / Drill Assistant / Derrickmen or Derrickmen Assistant.
Crane Operator Jobs
Crane Operator jobs generally require you to complete the Operate Offshore Cranes, Tower Crane Licence. A Crane Operator operates various cranes across the drilling rig to lift and relocate drilling equipment / supplies.
Crane Operators Assistant / Dogman Jobs
Crane Operators Assistant / Dogman jobs generally require you to complete the Offshore Rigging and Lifting , Perform Dogging Operations. A Dogman rigs loads and dogs loads for the crane operator.
Roustabout jobs generally require you to complete the Certificate II in Drilling Oil/Gas (Offshore). A Roustabout assists with rigging of the loads for crane operations, performs maintenance, trade assistant, washes and cleans rig and rig flooring.
Radio Operator Jobs
Radio Operator jobs generally require you to complete the Radio Operators Licence and Certificate. Responsible for the safe operation and deployment of all communication and communication equipment on board the vessel, coordinate personnel evacuation in times of distress, also monitors radio, phones and weather.
