About the Longford Gas Conditioning Plant Project
From the ExxonMobil Website
Esso Australia is developing a Gas Conditioning Plant at its existing Longford facilities near Sale in south-eastern Victoria. It will involve construction on private land already occupied by the company, zoned for industrial use and adjacent to the existing Longford facilities.
The Gas Conditioning Plant will process gas associated with the largest domestic gas development on Australia’s eastern seaboard, the multi- billion dollar Kipper Tuna Turrum (KTT) Project.
As part of the KTT Project, the Longford Gas Conditioning Plant Project will continue the significant contribution of Bass Strait to this country. It will be an important project for the Gippsland region in particular, creating in the order of 250 direct construction jobs as well as delivering other indirect employment opportunities.
In addition to the direct economic benefits, the Gas Conditioning Plant will help to secure south eastern Australia’s energy future by ensuring an ongoing supply of cleaner burning natural gas well in to the 21st Century.
Construction of the Gas Conditioning Plant is expected to begin in the second half of 2013. The GCP is expected to be operational in 2016.
